What will I learn?

This course will provide a brief introduction to WebServices. We'll start by discussing the goals of WebServices. We'll then discuss the "Publish-Find-and Bind" paradigm.

We'll then discuss the following technologies at an introductory level

  • SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)
  • XML-RPC (XML Remote Procedure Call)
  • WSDL (Web Services Desriptor Language)
  • UDDI (Universal Description, Discover and Integration)
  • XML, XSLT, and ebXML
We'll then discuss, at a high-level, who is using this technology and why. We'll discuss the WebServices implemented by Amazon and Google.
