What will I learn?

This course will provide a brief introduction to WebServices. We'll start by discussing the goals of WebServices. We'll then discuss the "Publish-Find-and Bind" paradigm.

We'll then discuss the following technologies at an introductory level

• SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)
• XML-RPC (XML Remote Procedure Call)
• WSDL (Web Services Desriptor Language)
• UDDI (Universal Description, Discover and Integration)
• XML, XSLT, and ebXML

Specifications

• This overview does not contain exercises

Pre-requisites

If you are building a custom course, we recommend that you cover these topics before WebServices can be presented:

• Servlets
• JSP
• XML
• RMI

• Basic Java knowledge including exception handling, threads, full use of all the language constructs, and familiarity with the core Java APIs.
• Those without these pre-requisites should consider one of our Ultimate Java Programming Workshops.
